Demi Lovato is an American singer and actress who grew from a Disney Channel star into a pop hitmaker with a powerful voice. Born Demetria Devonne Lovato on August 20, 1992, in Albuquerque and raised in Dallas, she rose to fame in the 2008 film Camp Rock.

Disney beginnings

Camp Rock and her Disney sitcom Sonny with a Chance made her a teen star, alongside childhood friend Selena Gomez. Her debut single “This Is Me” reached the top ten, and her first two albums, Don’t Forget (2008) and Here We Go Again (2009), both charted high.

Skyscraper and Heart Attack

Unbroken (2011) brought the self-worth anthem “Skyscraper”, and Demi (2013) delivered “Heart Attack”, her first global top-ten hit. She also joined Gomez and others on the charity single “Send It On” with Miley Cyrus.

Confident and Tell Me You Love Me

Confident (2015) earned a Grammy nomination and produced “Cool for the Summer”, while Tell Me You Love Me (2017) became her first platinum album on the strength of “Sorry Not Sorry”.

New directions

She collaborated with Sam Smith on “I’m Ready” in 2020, then turned toward rock on Holy Fvck (2022). She has sold more than 30 million records and is an outspoken mental health advocate.
