Maroon 5

Maroon 5 is one of the most commercially successful pop bands of the 21st century, built around Adam Levine’s voice and a steady stream of radio hits. The Los Angeles group started in 1994 as a rock band called Kara’s Flowers before reinventing themselves in the early 2000s.

Songs About Jane

Their 2002 debut Songs About Jane was a slow-burning success, eventually selling millions on the strength of “This Love”, “She Will Be Loved” and “Harder to Breathe”. The album won them the Grammy for Best New Artist.

Chart dominance

It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (2007) brought the number-one “Makes Me Wonder”, and a 2011 re-release of Hands All Over added “Moves Like Jagger” with Christina Aguilera, a global number one. “Payphone” with Wiz Khalifa followed in 2012, alongside the chart-topping “One More Night”.

V and beyond

V (2014) topped the chart and produced “Maps”, “Animals” and “Sugar”, whose wedding-crashing video became one of the most-watched on YouTube. Red Pill Blues (2017) carried “Girls Like You” with Cardi B to number one, and Jordi (2021) featured “Memories” and “Beautiful Mistakes” with Megan Thee Stallion.

A lasting run

Maroon 5 has sold more than 135 million records and won three Grammy Awards. They headlined the Super Bowl LIII halftime show in 2019, and Levine spent years as a coach on The Voice.
