Deadmau5, pronounced dead mouse, is the stage name of Joel Zimmerman, a Canadian producer born in Niagara Falls in 1981. Known for the mau5head helmet he wears on stage, he became one of the most recognizable figures in progressive house.

He founded the label mau5trap in 2007, which went on to launch artists including Skrillex, whose breakthrough EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites came out on it.
Random Album Title
His 2008 album Random Album Title was his commercial breakthrough, with “Faxing Berlin” and “I Remember”, a collaboration with Kaskade. For Lack of a Better Name (2009) followed with “Ghosts n Stuff” and the much-loved “Strobe”.
4×4=12 and beyond
The album 4×4=12 (2010) brought “Some Chords” and “Raise Your Weapon”, and Album Title Goes Here (2012) included “The Veldt” and “Professional Griefers” with Gerard Way. His tracks have appeared on compilations by peers such as Tiesto.
