Christina Aguilera

The four-octave pop singer behind Genie in a Bottle, Beautiful and Lady Marmalade, known for constant reinvention.

Christina Aguilera is an American singer known for a four-octave voice and a career of constant reinvention. Born December 18, 1980, in Staten Island, New York, she got her start on The All New Mickey Mouse Club before recording “Reflection” for Disney’s Mulan in 1998.

A chart-topping debut

Her 1999 self-titled debut sold millions and produced three number-one singles, “Genie in a Bottle”, “What a Girl Wants” and “Come On Over Baby”. It won her the Grammy for Best New Artist.

Lady Marmalade and Stripped

In 2001 she joined Pink, Mya and Lil’ Kim on “Lady Marmalade” for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack, a number-one hit and Grammy winner. Her 2002 album Stripped shed the teen-pop image, with “Dirrty”, “Fighter” and the self-acceptance anthem “Beautiful”, which won a Grammy.

Back to Basics and reinventions

Back to Basics (2006) topped the chart and won her another Grammy for “Ain’t No Other Man”, followed by Bionic (2010), Lotus (2012) and the Spanish-language Aguilera (2022).

Collaborations and The Voice

“Moves Like Jagger” with Maroon 5 reached number one in 2011, making her one of the few women to top the Hot 100 across three decades. She also hit the top ten with “Feel This Moment” alongside Pitbull, won a Grammy for “Say Something”, and coached on The Voice.
