Marshmello is an American DJ and producer known as much for his white marshmallow helmet as for a run of pop-leaning EDM hits. Born Christopher Comstock on May 19, 1992, he keeps his face hidden to put the focus on the music, and built his following posting tracks online in 2015.
Alone
His 2016 debut album Joytime introduced him, and the single “Alone” became his first big hit, reaching the Billboard Hot 100 and going multi-platinum.
A run of collaborations
In 2017 came “Silence” with Khalid and “Wolves” with Selena Gomez, both global hits. “Friends” with Anne-Marie followed in 2018, along with “Happier” with Bastille, which became his highest-charting song at number two.

He kept the collaborations coming with “Be Kind” with Halsey, “OK Not to Be OK” with Demi Lovato, and “Leave Before You Love Me” with the Jonas Brothers. His album Shockwave (2021) earned a Grammy nomination.
Beyond the stage
In 2019 he staged a live in-game concert inside Fortnite that drew more than ten million players, one of the first major virtual concerts. He remains a festival headliner with a Las Vegas residency.
