Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen is the dominant figure in country music and one of the biggest stars in any genre. His blend of traditional country, rock and hip-hop has produced some of the longest-running hits of the decade. Born May 13, 1993, in Sneedville, Tennessee, he first appeared on The Voice in 2014 and has since rewritten the chart record books.

The breakthrough

His 2018 debut If I Know Me topped the country chart, but Dangerous: The Double Album (2021) made him a phenomenon, becoming one of the biggest albums of the era. In 2021 Wallen was also caught on video using a racial slur, which drew wide criticism. He apologized and stepped back briefly before returning to even greater commercial success.

Last Night and the records

One Thing at a Time (2023) spent nineteen non-consecutive weeks at number one, led by “Last Night”, which topped the Hot 100 for sixteen weeks and became one of the longest-running number ones ever. His fourth album, I’m the Problem (2025), was his third straight chart-topper and put dozens of songs on the Hot 100 at once.

I Had Some Help

In 2024 Wallen joined Post Malone on “I Had Some Help”, which debuted at number one and became the first song to top both the Hot 100 and the country chart at the same time. The two reunited in 2025 for “I Ain’t Comin’ Back”.

The awards

Wallen has won an armful of Billboard Music Awards and was named Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards. He has been nominated for Grammys, including for “I Had Some Help”, though he has yet to win one. His stadium tours rank among the highest-grossing in country music.
