Kygo is a Norwegian producer who pioneered tropical house, a softer, melodic take on dance music. Born Kyrre Gorvell-Dahll in 1991 and trained as a pianist, he cites Avicii as his main inspiration.
Firestone
He drew early attention with a remix of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire”, then broke through with “Firestone” featuring Conrad Sewell in 2014. “Stole the Show” followed.
Cloud Nine
His 2016 debut album Cloud Nine topped the chart in Norway. That year he became the first house producer to perform at an Olympics closing ceremony, at the Rio Games.
It Ain’t Me
“It Ain’t Me” with Selena Gomez (2017) passed a billion streams, and “Born to Be Yours” paired him with Imagine Dragons. In 2019 his remix of Whitney Houston‘s “Higher Love” became her highest-charting posthumous release.
Later albums
Golden Hour (2020) and the self-titled KYGO (2024) kept the collaborations coming, and he completed an unfinished Avicii track, “Forever Yours”, with the blessing of Avicii’s family.
