Camila Cabello

The Cuban-American pop star behind Havana, Senorita and Bam Bam, who broke out of Fifth Harmony for a solo career.

Camila Cabello broke out of a chart-topping girl group to become a solo pop star with a strong Latin streak. Born March 3, 1997, in Cojimar, near Havana, Cuba, she moved to Miami as a child and grew up between Cuban and Mexican roots.

Fifth Harmony

She rose to fame on The X Factor in 2012 as a member of Fifth Harmony, the girl group behind hits like “Work from Home”, before a heavily publicized departure in 2016 set up her solo career.

Havana

Her debut solo album Camila (2018) opened at number one, powered by “Havana”, an ode to her Cuban heritage that became her first solo chart-topper. “Never Be the Same” followed it into the top ten.

Romance and Familia

Romance (2019) produced the global number one “Senorita”, a duet with Shawn Mendes. Familia (2022) drew on her Latin roots and brought “Bam Bam”, a hit with Ed Sheeran. She had earlier teamed with J Balvin on the film-soundtrack hit “Hey Ma”.

New directions

C,XOXO (2024) marked a bolder, club-leaning reinvention with guests like Playboi Carti. Alongside music she played the lead in the 2021 film Cinderella and coached on The Voice. She has won two Latin Grammy Awards.
