Justin Bieber is one of the defining pop stars of the social-media age, a Canadian singer who went from posting homemade videos online to global superstardom while still a teenager. “Baby” and teen stardom

That same year he released Purpose, whose first three singles, “What Do You Mean?,” “Sorry” and “Love Yourself,” all reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2017 he joined Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee on the remix of “Despacito,” singing in Spanish for the first time, and the song spent sixteen weeks at number one.

Justice, Grammys and beyond

Bieber’s later albums kept his streak of number ones intact. Changes appeared in 2020, followed by Justice in 2021, which featured the hits “Peaches” and “Stay,” his collaboration with The Kid Laroi. His country-pop duet with Dan + Shay, “10,000 Hours,” won the Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, and his “I Don’t Care” team-up with Ed Sheeran became a global hit. In 2025 he surprised fans with the back-to-back releases Swag and Swag II. He married model Hailey Baldwin in 2018, and the couple welcomed their first child, a son, in 2024. His Christian faith has remained central to his life and his music.

Few artists have grown up as publicly as Bieber. He became famous at an age when most performers are still unknown, which meant his stumbles played out in headlines as loudly as his hits.
