Martin Garrix is a Dutch DJ and producer, born Martijn Garritsen in Amstelveen in 1996. He decided to make dance music as a child after watching Tiesto perform at the 2004 Athens Olympics, and went on to top the DJ Mag poll five times.
Animals
He self-produced “Animals” in his bedroom and released it in 2013 at age 17. It hit number one in the UK, making him the youngest Dutch artist to top that chart, and became a festival anthem.
Crossover hits
After founding his label STMPD RCRDS in 2016, Garrix leaned into vocal collaborations. “In the Name of Love” with Bebe Rexha (2016) and “Scared to Be Lonely” with Dua Lipa (2017) both went multi-platinum, followed by “Ocean” with Khalid (2018).
More collaborations
He worked with David Guetta on “So Far Away”, with Macklemore and Patrick Stump on “Summer Days”, and co-produced Avicii‘s “Waiting for Love”. His debut album Sentio arrived in 2022.
Festival reign
Garrix headlines the world’s biggest festivals, from Tomorrowland to Ultra, and performed at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics.
